Innovative Kumho Omni Ring Tyre Wins Major International Design Award

Kumho Tyre has again won the coveted International Forum Design Award for 2026 (iF Design Award).

The iF Design Award is organised by the IF International Forum Design in Germany and is recognised as one of the world’s top three design awards alongside the German Red Dot Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the United States.

More than 11,000 entries from 72 countries were submitted this year, and the judging panel comprising 132 international experts selected the ultimate winners.

Kumho Tyre won the Product Concepts category for its radical Omni Ring concept, a modular tyre which has been designed for future mobility and is characterised by its ability to move in all directions.

The Kumho Omni Ring features various patterns that deliver optimal performance depending on driving conditions and demands.

In urban indoor settings, a dense herringbone pattern ensures noise reduction and energy efficiency while for inter-city motorway travel, it features a durable block pattern that enhances performance at high speeds, and enables efficient mobility in future urban environments.

Kumho Tyre’s head of R&D, Young-Jin Kim, said the company has pursued a wide range of R&D initiatives in line with the rapidly evolving mobility industry.

Kumho Tyre has started 2026 with what it is declaring as its best and most comprehensive spread of adventure-ready Road Venture tyres ever, enabling vehicles and drivers to handle anything that the harsh Australian environment and conditions can throw at them.

Kumho Tyre’s updated Road Venture family of tyres is now complete with the recent launch of its new RT ‘Rugged-Terrain’ , joining the already established AT52 ‘All-Terrain’ and MT71 Mud-Terrain tyres, to deliver the best range of performance, whether on the tar, dirt roads, rocks, mud or the desert sands.

Kumho Tyre launched its all new ‘Rugged Terrain’ tyre (RT) in late 2025 with its design making it the ideal on and off-road tyre, allowing 4WD, ute and SUV owners to get the best of both worlds in one tyre.

The Kumho Road Venture RT tyre has completed the totally revitalised line up for Kumho in its Adventure Tyre range, and sits between the All-Terrain Road Venture AT52 and the tough maximum traction Road Venture MT71.

The new RT has been developed to answer the enormous and growing demand for a tyre that will deliver great on road performance along with excellent off road capability.

In a series of tests by Kumho Tyre in the USA at the Treadwell Research Park , the RT outperformed tyres from rival brands in wet and dry handling, ride, road noise and both wet and dry braking.

The testers used both a Ford F250 and a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for the tests with the tyres also outperforming rival off road brands in areas of mud traction and steering, off road trail performance, cut chip resistance and overall wear.

AT52

The Road Venture AT52 entered the Australian market in early 2023 as the direct replacement for its popular, top selling and highly praised Road Venture AT51 All-Terrain tyre, which earned plaudits and admiration from Ute, SUV and 4WD users over more than a decade on the Aussie market.

The AT52 was the evolution of the AT51 and was awarded one of the most prestigious international design competitions on the planet, winning the 2022 Good Design Award (G-Mark) in Japan.

The AT52 was extensively tested across the globe in a range of harsh environments both here in Australia and in North America, where its combination of strong performance both on and off-road and in rough terrains including in dry, stony conditions, mud and sand, won it favour with both SUV and pick-up/ute drivers. The sawtooth-shaped shoulder block tread design tread has been engineered to improve off-road traction while also delivering a comfortable and quiet ride.

MT71

The Kumho Road Venture MT71 offers premium off road performance that has redefined the 4WD tyre segment and came to market in late 2020 after more than two years of development.

The MT71 is available in an array of sizes that cover the vast majority of the mud-terrain segment. A cornerstone product for Kumho Tyre, it delivers the highest level of performance whether in slippery mud, tackling dry outback gravel tracks or cruising down the highway.

The MT71 also offers truly competitive pricing and has proved a revered and respected competitor in the serious 4WD tyre market.

David Basha said that most 4WD/UTE/SUV owners spend 80 to 90 per cent of their driving time on tarmac but also want a tyre that will cope with their off road adventures.

Kumho Tyre Awarded Ecovadis Gold Medal For The Second Consecutive Year Reinforcing Its Position As A Sustainability Leader

Kumho Tyre has won a major global award for its efforts and outstanding performance in Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG) evaluations across 2025 by global sustainability ratings organisation EcoVadis .

It is the second year in succession that Kumho was awarded for its strength in sustainability management, after having also earned the Gold Medal honour in 2024.

EcoVadis assesses the sustainability of global supply chains based on policies, actions, and certifications across four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Kumho ranked in the top five per cent out of approximately 150,000 companies worldwide for sustainability in 2024, and in the 2025 evaluation the company achieved notable improvements in labour and human rights, and ethics. EcoVadis cited that Kumho Tyre had reflected progress in the strengthening of its ethical management framework as a result of expanding the scope of ESG data management.

Kumho Tyre also received an integrated “A” grade in the 2025 ESG rating from the Korean Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability , an improvement of one grade from the previous year.

The Korean Institute said the upgrade was driven by management enhancements such as the establishment of a human rights management system, setting employee diversity goals, increased investment in information security and the implementation of board performance evaluations.

Since 2022, Kumho has also continued its participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Last year the company earned an A rating in recognition of its water resource management capabilities, as well as scoring the highest rating in the Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), highlighting its efforts in climate change response and ESG management.

Kumho has also maintained its AA rating in the MSCI ESG assessment and was selected as a Yearbook member in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) by world-renowned credit rating agency, S&P Global , which gives it a ranking within the top 15 per cent of the global auto components industry.

At the Korean Sustainability Conference 2025, hosted by the Korean Standards Association under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Kumho ranked first in the tyre sector of the Korean Sustainability Index (KSI) for the third consecutive year.

The company was also recognised for its excellence in the manufacturing sector in the Korean Readers’ Choice Awards (KRCA) for the second consecutive year.

Kumho Tyre Announces Major New European Tyre Manufacturing Plant

Global tyre maker, Kumho Tyre has announced the construction of a new European tyre manufacturing plant as part of the company’s strategy to expand its global production footprint and accelerate growth across the European market.

The new European facility will be built at Opole in Poland and is scheduled to begin initial operations by August 2028, pending investment and regulatory approval. The first phase will support an annual production capacity of six million tires, with expansions planned according to market demand at a total investment of $AUD884 million (US$587 million).

Kumho evaluated several European countries, including Poland, as potential locations for the new plant, assessing factors such as site suitability, sales growth potential, investment stability, profitability, and available incentives.

After a thorough review of the final two candidate regions, the company selected Opole for its logistical advantages, skilled workforce, competitive infrastructure, stable access to the European market, and the attractive incentives offered by the Polish government.

Europe represents a market of substantial strategic importance for Kumho, accounting for roughly 25 per cent of overall global tyre consumption. In 2024 European sales made up approximately 26.6% of the total revenue.

Kumho says it will secure a stable foundation for sales expansion while strengthening its portfolio of high-value-added products (HVPs), including high-performance and large-inch tires by establishing a local European production base. This move is expected to boost both profitability and brand value.

Europe also comprises about 17 per cent of the global original equipment (OE) tyre market and is home to major high-end vehicle manufacturers.

Until now, the absence of a European production base had limited Kumho Tyre’s supply stability and lead-time competitiveness. The new facility is expected to significantly improve OE responsiveness and create new opportunities for collaboration with leading automotive brands.

President and CEO of Kumho Tyre, Taik Jung, the European market holds tremendous strategic significance in the global tyre industry.

“By establishing local production and supply capabilities in Europe, Kumho Tyre will strengthen its market competitiveness, local responsiveness and attractiveness to European vehicle manufacturers with the product quality for which the brand is renowned,” said Jung.

Meanwhile, Kumho Tyre also plans to complete a new factory with an annual capacity of 5.3 million tyres in Hampyeong, in its home country of Korea by the end of 2027.

The confirmation of the Polish site means Kumho Tyre is set to build a fully integrated production network spanning Asia, Europe, and North America.

The tyre maker will continue expanding its regionally optimised production capabilities through this network to meet market-specific demand and reinforce its global competitiveness.

Partnership Renewal with Hockey Australia Announced

Kumho Tyre Australia has announced it will be recommitting to Hockey Australia as an official national partner, signing a new one-year deal running through the end of 2026. The agreement extends and strengthens the existing partnership after the previous renewal in 2023.

Kumho Tyre will continue to support hockey at all levels - from grassroots clubs and community competitions to elite national teams such as the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos - providing valuable backing for domestic growth and international success.

Hockey Australia Chief Executive Officer David Pryles said the renewal represents a strong endorsement of the sport’s growth and the shared values between both organisations.

Off Road Adventurer Praises Kumho Tyre Performance After Epic Cape York Torture Test

Off road adventurer and YouTube influencer, Denny Danis has just completed a 10,000 kilometre torture test with Kumho’s brand new RT tyres , taking on Cape York and some of the harshest and toughest 4WD tracks in the country.

Danis equipped his Toyota LandCruiser 79 for the adventure which saw him and his family complete the entire trip without a puncture or any issues. He has recorded the trip for his YouTube channel which has one of the biggest audiences for any 4WD videographer on the social media platform.

“The RTs performed brilliantly despite some very tough conditions and they didn’t even look like they’d let us down,” Danis said.

“You can lower the pressure down to negotiate soft and or difficult conditions and not suffer punctures, they are a very impressive tyre,” he added. “We toured all around the Cape and didn’t spare the tyres one little bit but they came through with flying colours.”

Denny says he has been using Kumho tyres for about five years and sees them as the most reliable and cost effective off road tyres on the market.

“I have become a big fan of Kumho since first putting MT71s on my 79 Series LandCruiser for a very rugged trip around the Victorian High Country. That was five years ago and today I have Kumho AT52s on my wife’s LandCruiser 300 wagon, on my 79 Series and would highly recommend them,” Denny added.

As well as exploring Australia’s toughest off road 4WD tracks and regions Denny also competes in and organises challenging 4WD Rock Crawling competition including a 24 Hour challenge along with five other support events.

Running under the name of Team Bullet, the off road driving competitions require a deep knowledge of off road tyre performance and capabilities.

“I set up my events in my LandCruiser using Kumho tyres and they handle the rough stuff superbly,” Denny said.

“I have only ever had one Kumho damaged and that was my fault because I didn’t let the pressure down the right way, but apart from that they have been flawless,” he said.

Denny and his family have a number of plans in the pipeline for trips to take their Kumhos on throughout 2026.

“Definitely looking forward to putting the Kumhos to the test on a number of trails in the future and I am sure they will excel,” he concluded.

Bulldogs Put The New RT To The Test

Leading tyre manufacturer Kumho has launched an all new ‘Rugged Terrain’ tyre (RT) designed as the ideal on and off-road tyre allowing 4WD, ute and SUV owners to get the best of both worlds in one product.

The new Kumho Road Venture RT completes a totally revitalised line up for Kumho in its range of 4WD/Ute/SUV tyre range and will sit between the already launched and highly acclaimed All Terrain Road Venture AT52 and the tough Mud Terrain, off road, maximum traction Road Venture MT51 and MT71 .

Kumho engineers have drawn on their extensive experience in designing versatile, multi-purpose tyres to create the new RT, packed with key performance features.

Bold shoulder blocks with saw-tooth edges provide strong off-road traction, while multi-angle sipes and zig-zag grooves boost grip in snow and slippery conditions. A twisted centre block with reinforcement design improves straight-line stability and wear performance under high loads.

Optimally shaped tie bars enhance tread block rigidity for better traction, while an optimal volume groove design improves drainage for wet and snow conditions. This is further supported by a high-dispersible micro silica compound and optimised tread pattern for excellent wet-weather performance.

To prevent stones from lodging in the tread, Kumho has introduced a distinctive ‘ground crack’ pattern with an ‘under deco’ cracked-ground design, along with a wavy cross-section shoulder groove that also strengthens block rigidity.

Kumho Helping Empower Next Generation Through Bulldogs Game Changers Program

Kumho Tyre Australia , through the partnership with NRL club Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are helping to empower local teenagers through the newly introduced Game-Changers program.

The Bulldogs Game-Changers has been developed as a unique and authentic educational program designed to equip high school students with essential life skills. The program is a community collaboration uniting schools, industry, law enforcement and the spirit of sport to empower students to confidently navigate real-life challenges.

As part of the program, Kumho Tyre Australia supports students through a road safety topic that is one of seven core topics that include: mental health, physical health, financial literacy, safe social media use, career planning and leadership.

All sessions are run in and around the home of the Bulldogs, Belmore Sports Ground, and have been reviewed and endorsed by the NSW Police Force which is a huge show of confidence in the program’s relevance and integrity.

Six schools within the local Canterbury-Bankstown area have signed up to complete the program, with students from Punchbowl Boys High School recently completing the Kumho Road Safety course.

Brand New Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport Blitzes European Tyre Rivals In Independent German Performance Tyre Test

A leading German tyre industry website has judged Kumho Tyre’s brand new Ecsta PS72 Sport as amongst the three top tyres in a wide spread performance tyre comparison test in Europe.

Die Reifentester , which is a major German tyre website, whose name translates to “The Tyre Testers” used identical Volkswagen Golf GTIs to judge critical performance, safety and handling of eight of Europe’s best selling 225/40 ZR18 size performance tyres.

The tests were overseen by leading tyre tester and former tyre developer Dirk Vincken, along with experienced motoring journalist Joachim Fischer, with the team comparing the tyres at the ATP proving ground at Papenburg in Germany.

The Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport was one of only three tyres, and the only non-European tyre in the comparison to be badged as “very good”. The testers said the Kumho performed well across the board, earning it the “very good” overall rating.

Four of the seven tyres in the comparison were European manufactured, while there were two from Korean makers and one from Japan.

The Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport shared the winners’ podium with two European tyres, as the Kumho impressed in all disciplines, with good to very good results, and despite being amongst the least expensive tyres in the test.

The Kumho was listed as being 25 per cent less expensive than the most expensive tyre in the test, a leading European tyre that only ranked sixth in the comparison.

The Kumho Ecsta PS72 was also only 10 per cent more expensive than the cheapest tyre in the tests, a well-known European brand that ranked last in the field.

The tests authors said the Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport featured the best wet braking performance, excellent dry and wet handling, and great value for performance at an affordable price.

As the testers pointed out, choosing the right tyre for sporty compact cars such as the VW Golf GTI is crucial for performance, safety, and driving pleasure. The latest test from Die Reifentester evaluates eight tyres in the popular 225/40 ZR18 size.

The Die Reifentester test involved the dry and wet handling which each accounted for 15 per cent each, while wet and dry braking each accounted for 20 per cent, longitudinal and straight aquaplaning tests made up 10 per cent of the results each, lateral aquaplaning tests accounted for 5 per cent, while the measurement of rolling resistance, comfort, and noise levels counted for the final 5 per cent.

The judges said Kumho has learned its lessons in Europe and is now unashamedly challenging the throne of the seemingly invincible established Euro brands.

“Very capable cars like the Golf GTI also need very capable tyres, because without perfectly tailored, well-selected rubber, even a cornering artist like the GTI would only deliver mediocre driving dynamics,” said tester Joachim Fischer.

For reference, the veteran Conti SportContact 7, along with the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport, the Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 (now replaced by the Hankook Ventus Evo), the brand-new Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, and the Vredestein Ultrac Pro.

“In the somewhat surprising wet-braking test, while the Kumho is coming to a stop, some of the more highly fancied European tyres, including the one we named as the benchmark before we commenced, were still rolling along at 19.1 km/h,” said Fischer.

“From a physical perspective, that's quite a lot but there were other tyres in the test that performed even less impressively, with the last paced brand still travelling at 30km/h when the Kumho was securely stopped,” he said.

“The Kumho is almost impossible to shake off – either in the rearview mirror or in terms of driving dynamics while the Kumho's rubber compound clearly works excellently on wet asphalt,” Fischer added.

“The brand-new Kumho, can be considered the winner in terms of value for money, earning its overall rating of "Very Good," Fischer concluded.

The PS72’s dry grip performance has improved by 5-10%, ensuring drivers can expect excellent control and response during sharp cornering and at high speed.

Kumho recognises that this is an important factor for drivers who seek high performance experiences with their machines.

Bode explained that the PS72’s new compound, which was created by a combination of new technologies, has significantly enhanced sports performance, along with mileage improvement and energy efficiency.

“The specially designated compound has been developed to maximise traction so that the engine's performance and power can be delivered entirely to the road surface, while enduring heat better and ensuring even tyre wear, as well as a substantially increased mileage.”

Kumho engineers have achieved a 15 per cent increase in tyre mileage for the PS72 during the exhaustive test program the tyre was subjected to during its four year development life.

The new PS72 has also been designated to reduce rolling resistance, by minimising energy loss while the tyre is rolling, contributing to improved fuel consumption efficiency that satisfies even the latest stringent European regulations.

The Kumho Ecsta PS71 has been chosen by Volkswagen Group as the OE fit tyre for both the new Volkswagen Tiguan and the Cupra Terramar compact sports SUVs.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan and the Cupra Terramar are both based on Volkswagen Group's latest MQB Evo platform.

Global tyre manufacturer Kumho Tyre has announced that it has launched a new tyre digital twin system at its global headquarters in Seoul, marking a major step in the company’s efforts to digitalise its tyre development process.

Shifting from traditional physical testing to virtual tyre development, Kumho says the new system enables the automatic design of multiple tyre versions using digital data and big data-based performance predictions.

Kumho says its Digital Twin system shifts tyre development from traditional physical methods to a dynamic virtual environment and comes in response to the growing demand for digital transformation among automakers along with stricter environmental regulations.

This allows design engineers to generate tyre designs, predict performance, optimise designs, and simulate vehicle performance - all within a digital framework. Using artificial intelligence (AI), the system selects the optimal design, and follows this up with a virtual evaluation based on vehicle dynamics analysis to verify tyre performance.

Kumho Tyres Help Volkswagen Adventurers Achieve Second Guinness World Record In Two Months

Kumho Tyres have helped Volkswagen, German adventurer Rainer Zeitlow , his compatriot and photographer Marius Biela, along with Aussie expedition member Brad Howe, capture their second Guinness World Record in the span of just eight weeks.

Zeitlow and Biela drove a Kumho equipped Volkswagen Amarok across 10 Australian deserts in a 6412 km torture test that covered 1000km per day in just under a week to capture the fastest crossing of all ten deserts.

The reliability and durability of the Kumho MT71s was critical in achieving the record with the team suffering just one tyre puncture across the tough, weeklong odyssey.

Rainer and Marius in the Amarok ute had to press on during the attempt, starting at Maree in the far north of South Australia before crossing the Great Victoria, Great Sandy, Tanami, Simpson, Gibson, Little Sandy, Strzelecki, Sturt’s Stony, Tirari and Pedirka deserts, before arriving in Alice Springs at the conclusion.

Covering 1000km per day is a tough enough task on sealed roads but when having to maintain that pace on outback dirt roads and across trackless sand dunes in rough country, the record breakers could not afford to lose time with lots of tyre failures or punctures.

According to Rainer Zeitlow the one tyre puncture was the result of a small human error on his part that he believes no other tyre could have survived undamaged.

“It was a silly move from me and I am sure no other tyre could have survived it,” said Zeitlow.

“The Kumhos were superb and gave us confidence during what was a very rapid 6400km journey across ten deserts, just as they were on our previous Guinness Record run two months ago on the HP71 EVs,” he said.

On the first record run, which concluded at the end of September, Zietlow and Biela, drove a standard Vokswagen ID.4 GTX electric SUV, to establish the Guiness World Record for the largest GPS drawing made by a Battery Electric Vehicle, inscribing “70 Year VeeDub” on a 23,849km journey across the Australia.

The ID.4 electric car ran on Kumho HP71 EV road tyres, tackling everything Australia’s outback could throw at them on that trip.

On the Volkswagen Amarok Desert trip the two Amarok’s both carried four spare tyres and apart from a precautionary change mid-way through, putting the spares on both cars, the small puncture was the only issue all trip.

Kumho Tyres Australia’s director of sales and marketing, David Basha said Kumho was proud to be a part of both record runs and the company’s confidence in its tyres doing the job was vindicated by their performance on the trips.

“In both instances the tyres were straight out of the rack, just as any member of the public can buy at their local tyre shop, so that gives confidence to our customers that our tyres will stand up to the beating that the Australian environment will throw at them,” said David Basha.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles director Ryan Davies thanked the partners including Kumho , ARB, Club 4x4 Insurance, Volkswagen Financial Services and MotoKinetic, whose team provided support throughout the planning phase and the journey.

The Amarok consumed 1,199 litres of diesel and only 0.5 litres of oil during the trek and a single puncture.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will next year release the Amarok 10 Deserts Limited Edition of some 300. This is based on the Amarok Life model grade.

Kumho Tyres have helped Volkswagen celebrate its 70th anniversary in Australia by enabling adventurer Rainer Zeitlow to capture a Guinness World Record for the biggest GPS image made by a vehicle, during an epic 32,000 km drive across some of the Island Continent’s toughest and most testing roads.

During the journey, driving a brand new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX equipped with Kumho PS71 EV tyres , Zeitlow and his team, including co-driver and photographer Marius Biela, wrote ‘70 years of VeeDub’ in a GPS trace before completing the trip with a circumnavigation of the country.

The pair in the new Volkswagen electric car arrived back in Sydney having only incurred one easily repaired puncture on the entire journey, underlining the performance and durability of the Kumho tyres, which are OE fit on the ID.4.

Volkswagen chose the conclusion of the epic record run to launch the new ID.4 and its sibling, the ID.5 into the Australian market.

The ID.4 record drive took seven weeks to complete and covered NSW, Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory, with the car tackling the full gamut of conditions, including sand, snow, heat, gravel roads, flooding rain and mud.

According to Rainer Zeitlow the Kumho PS71s EV tyres performed superbly during the torture test they endured on the almost two month journey.

“I was absolutely overwhelmed by the performance of the EV specific PS71 tyres from Kumho, which proved they were not just great on bitumen but fantastic on every surface in Australia,” said Rainer Zeitlow.

“They performed well on every kind of surface and we had no problems at all, which meant we didn’t have to change a thing, or worry about anything in 33,000km, so we could just drive and concentrate on our journey,” he said.

Off Road Expert Sings Praises Of Kumho AT52 After Epic Desert Journey

Off-road expert and adventurer Denny Danis of Team Bullet Off Road has heaped praise on Kumho Tyres versatile and practical all terrain AT52 tyres following his latest adventure through a rain affected and muddy Central Australia, including a Simpson Desert Crossing and a run back from Birdsville via Moree in Northern NSW.

Denny said the AT52s on his 79 Series Toyota LandCruiser ute, out-performed all of the specialist mud terrain tyres on the five other Toyota’s which were part of the convoy, particularly in what was very muddy trip across the Simpson and coping with the equally wet conditions in the channel country south from Birdsville.

Team Bullet showcased its well-travelled 79 Series fitted with its Kumho AT52s at the Australian 4x4 and Adventure Show at Sydney International Dragway in September.

Denny said that the Central Australian trip which tracked west from Sydney and up to Coober Pedy, before heading to Mt Dare and across the Madigan Line crossing of the Simpson before returning to Sydney, covered about 8000 kms and was a stern test given the massive rainfall in weeks prior to the trek.

“I have to say I was a little sceptical given the roads had all been closed just prior to the trip and I was going to switch to a mud terrain, but decided to go with the Kumho AT52s to really put them through the test,” said Denny.

“The other four Toyotas were all on muddies and we were the only one on All Terrains and the performance was outstanding and put the muddies to shame really,” he said.

“The other stand out with the AT52s was their stability and strength even when the pressures were down on gravel roads after coming out of the dune country.

“We filmed the trip for our YouTube channel and had GoPros aimed at the tyres and suspension and that proved the fact that the AT52s don’t jump or skip as much as many tyres, providing added stability and traction by keeping the rubber on the road longer and more consistently,” Denny added.

“On a Toyota 79 like ours with an all up weight of around three-tonnes the stability and strength of the AT52s was a stand out,” he said.

He also added that the AT52s also performed superbly on tarmac roads to and from the outback underlining their all-round excellence in a range of conditions.

“I’d like to make people realise that Kumho produces tyres that are world class and their performance is hard to top, particularly for the price,” Denny concluded.

Denny had his 79 Series on display at the Australian 4x4 and Adventure Show along with his competition rock crawler vehicle and saying he is a strong advocate for the Kumho AT52s.

Global tyre maker, Kumho Tyres has announced it has reached a sponsorship deal with prestigious German Bundesliga football club, Eintracht Frankfurt , and it will be the leading club’s tyre partner for the next three years.

Kumho Tyres president and CEO Jung Il-taik, as well as its head of sales division, Lim Seung-bin, and head of R&D Division, Cho Man-sik were at the ceremony, along with the president of Eintracht Frankfurt , Axel Hellmann, sales and the club’s marketing director, Arnfried Lemmle, and strategic partner director Julia Flink for the signing of the agreement.

Kumho Tyres will be the official sponsor of Eintracht Frankfurt for three years, from the upcoming 2024 season through to 2027.

Eintracht Frankfurt boast a proud and storied history spanning more than 125 years, including most recently winning the prestigious UEFA Europa League in the 2021-2022 season.

Kumho Tyres Australia were pleased to host a combined Platinum Dealer Conference for their VIC/TAS/SA and WA dealers in Adelaide.

Held in November, Kumho Platinum Dealers made the trip into the Adelaide CBD and checked into the Sofitel Hotel, before making their way across to the Adelaide Zoo to hear from key Kumho staff regarding the brand and the Platinum Dealer program.

Partners and their families had the opportunity to visit the Adelaide Zoo for the day while Dealers were getting into the nitty-gritty of all things Kumho. With Head Office in attendance, Dealers found it beneficial to have direct correspondence and conversations with key decision-makers, as well as finding out what the future looks like.

At the completion of the official proceedings, it was time to head back to the hotel and get ready to have dinner with the giant Pandas, Wang Wang and Fu Ni in their Bamboo Forest back at the Adelaide Zoo. During the wonderful three course dinner, Dealers were presented for their awards over the 2022 year, with Murray Valley Tyre & Auto taking home the major prize of National Platinum Dealer of the Year.

National Trade Marketing Manager, Paul Deer, was pleased with how the conference went, especially with it being in his home state.

“It’s been difficult for everyone to come together over the past couple of years but we made sure this year we gave all our valued Platinum Dealers the opportunity to attend what I believe was a successful event,” Deer said.

“We thank all of our Platinum Dealers for their continued support of the program and we are certainly looking forward to finishing the year strongly and then starting 2024 with a bang.”

November 26 provided a fantastic opportunity for our QLD Platinum Dealers to meet in Brisbane and travel out to Willawong which will be the new home for our Queensland distribution centre.

Kumho Staff and Platinum dealers toured the site which will provide even greater service and a larger quantity of product into the Queensland market.
Later in the evening it was a change out of the hard hats and high vis vests and into something more casual as we gathered for some pre dinner drinks at the Soliel pool bar – Ridges Southbank, where Managing Director for Kumho Tyre Australia Mr John Jeon presented a number of awards for achievements during 2021, as well as the QLD Platinum Dealer of the year 2021 to Michael Ormonde from Twin City Tyres.

At the conclusion of the awards presentation we meandered down to Ahmet’s Turkish restaurant, where we experienced some amazing Turkish cuisine, and some not so amazing attempts at belly dancing…..although an honourable mention should go out to Craig Moran from Morans Service centre in Maclean who seemed to take the professional belly dancer by surprise with his moves.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend and a great opportunity to spend time with the Platinum group during 2022.

Saturday night was a great night indulging in an array of amazing foods. Asian, Indian, Seafood and an amazing selection of various meets was consumed followed by the largest assortment of deserts.

But it wasn’t all about the food. 2021 was a tough year with regards to Covid, but there were some fantastic achievements which were recognized during the night.

Special mention to Tania Burns who was awarded the Inaugural Platinum Champion award and also took home the W.A Platinum Dealer of the Year.

Kumho Tyres announced it was chosen as the original equipment supplier for Kia’s new compact SUV, the Seltos with its Solus TA91/TA31+ patterns.

The Kumho Solus TA31+ will be offered in 235/60R16 and 215/55R17 fitments while the SOLUS TA91 will be offered in a 235/45R18 fitment.

The Seltos OE contract is the latest addition to an already extensive OE lineup between Kumho and Kia Motors which includes the popular Kia Sorento and Optima vehicle lines. The company says it will be the exclusive OE tyre supplier for the new Seltos.

The Solus TA31+ is a Grand Touring tyre designed for all-season performance with an emphasis on quiet comfort. The TA31+ features a new tread compound balanced for extended mileage and on-road handling performance.

Kumho Tyre is the first tyre manufacturer in the world to develop a 20-inch LCV tyre with a low aspect ratio of 45 and has been exclusively supplying these tyres for the Solati Limousine, Hyundai Motor’s premium minibus.

The Solati is a light commercial vehicle (LCV) boasting a sophisticated design, high-levels of quietness, and a roomy interior.

Industry analysts attribute the vehicle’s global popularity to a rich conversion lineup that significantly enhances the models’ usability. Last year, Hyundai worked with SM Entertainment to redesign the vehicle to fit the needs of artists like singers and actors. This collaboration led to the launch of the Solati Moving Hotel, which won Germany’s “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award.

Since January, Kumho has been providing an upgraded version of the Portran KC53 for the Solati Limousine. Designed specifically for LCVs, this steady-selling tyre offers greater mileage, prevents abnormal abrasion, and boasts higher durability and handling performance.

The Solati Limousine used to be mounted mostly on 16-inch tyres, but Hyundai Motor decided they were too small for the vehicle and predicted a rise in demand for 20-inch tries. This prompted the automaker to ask several tyre makers to develop new tyres, but many were reluctant to do so due to technological limitations. Only Kumho has been successful in accommodating Hyundai’s needs.

Aware of the need for LCV tyres to withstand considerable payloads, Kumho’s development team had to go for a low aspect ratio of 45 to avoid sacrificing ride comfort and fuel economy. By adopting high-strength compounds and carcasses for greater durability, creating a design to prevent patter abrasion, and reinforcing the shoulder section, Kumho became the first in the world to release a 20-inch LCV tyre with a low aspect ratio.

Kumho Tyre has announced it has reached a two-year sponsorship deal with the prestigious football club Bayer 04 Leverkusen of the German Bundesliga, a contract that gives the company the right to serve as official global tyre partner until the 2020-2021 season.

The signing ceremony was held at BayArena, the club’s home stadium in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, and was attended by CEO of Kumho Tyre Jeon Dae-jin and sporting director Rudolf Rudi Voller of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, along with other officials from both sides.

As an official partner of Leverkusen, Kumho will display its brand on the sleeves of players’ shirts, in LED advertisements during matches held in the club’s home stadium, in match brochures, and on the club’s website. Started in 1904, Bayer 04 Leverkusen boasts a long history and tradition. The club is a five-time runner-up of the Bundesliga and won the UEFA Cup in the 1987-1988 season.

Kumho officially launches the new ECSTA PA51

Take one country NSW race track and add in a Kia Stinger GT and Genesis G70 Ultimate Sport. Marry them to the new state of the art Kumho PA51 performance tyre and its PS71 sibling and you get a true test of the brand’s new ‘comfortable’ ECSTA rubber.

The star of the show is the PA51, aimed at brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus and Genesis, and specific models like the Kia Stinger, Mini Cooper and Ford Mustang, offering incredible tyre life.

Featuring a tread design that delivers enhanced handling and traction, and a quiet, comfortable ride, the PA51 utilises a strengthened centre rib and outside shoulder block stiffness.

Four wide circumferential grooves and open shoulder lateral grooves also make it a wet weather star. Kumho’s variable pitch sequence technology helps to minimise noise to provide a quieter and more comfortable drive too.

It’s PS71 sibling offers slightly better wet and dry performance, superb handling and excellent stability.

Our team put both tyres through serious testing at the Pheasant Wood Circuit near Marulan in country NSW, including wet and dry braking and cornering scenarios and a slalom course.

In wet and dry braking, both tyres pulled their respective performance cars to a halt quickly, with the PS71 able to do it in a slightly shorter distance. Pushed through corners, in variable conditions, the test team saw amazing levels of grip, especially in the dry.

It was virtually impossible to split the two, but in the wet, it was again the PS71 that was ever so slightly better, thanks to its softer compound. Over a longer test though, we believe the longevity of the PA51 would shine through.

Sudden cornering at high speed is a true test of tyres capabilities in an emergency or real-world situation, and it was on the slalom course we were able to best test the capabilities of both tyres.

Again, both tyres were remarkably good, with the PS71 offering greater turn in, while the PA51 also performed exceptionally well.

The duo of performance tyres from Kumho certainly set a new standard for the South Korean tyre maker, and are well worth a look when it’s time to buy new rubber for your performance car, or even if you want some decent rubber on your family car.

KUMHO SIGNS ON TO PARTNER CAMP QUALITY

Kumho Tyre has announced it has signed on children’s cancer charity Camp Quality as its major partner.

Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again, with services and programs created specifically to help children from birth to 15 years, who are dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad.

As part of the partnership, Kumho Tyre will undertake activities via hundreds of tyre dealers and tyre fitters across the Kumho network all around Australia, through special Camp Quality merchandise raising funds and awareness for the charity.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia’s managing director, John Jeon, the association with Camp Quality is a significant one for Kumho and will be the company’s major philanthropic focus in the future.

“Kumho is incredibly proud to be a corporate partner of Camp Quality because of the key role it plays in supporting children and families experiencing the challenges of cancer as well as providing valuable cancer education in schools across the community,” said Mr. Jeon.

“As a global company Kumho is committed to community involvement, and supporting Camp Quality is just one demonstration of Kumho giving something back to the community,” he said.
